Probably not planning any new infrastructure changes in California.  Leaving it for Frontier to solve.

 

Don't know about California, but there are reports in Texas that they are already started moving them to Frontier serves.

The link you provided is for AOL email addresses. Not for Verizon email addresses.

 

I have the same issue with receiving my Verizon email via Thunderbird and mobile  gmail. I always hate AOL. IMO, Verizon made a dumb move. Look like that I have to use my gmail address as my default from now on because of this stupid issue (no longer use verizon email address, even though I pay for it- I will try to call Verizon webcenter for credit).

Throttling means something specific.  THIS THEY ARE NOT DOING..

 

Knowing allowing certain links and servers to overload.  This they have doen a few times when they had disputes with some of the other internet companies.

 

Being slow to respond when some of their internal structure needs to be corrected, less often but yes in some areas of the country.

 

And of course in California, Florida, and Texas they are in the midst of turning things over to Frontier.  And Frontier doesn't get Verizon's network backbone so a new series of problems will statt happening to us as we become Frontier customers.  Reportedly already true in Texas.  Perhaps also true in California.  I fear my turn in Florida next.

Smiley Very HappyCredit?  No way.  Its never was considered a pay for service.  And now that its AOL its definitely not.

 

What messages?  if necessary you can perform a trace with thunderbird.  To do so open a command prompt and execute the following commands

set NSPR_LOG_MODULES=POP3:4,SMTP:4

set NSPR_LOG_FILE="%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%\Desktop\tbird_log.txt"

start thunderbird

 

This will place a trace file (tbird_log.txt) on your desktop

Can you see that the server settings are not supposed to change except a new password that you use to log in mail.aol.com?

you do not need to change your settings. However, you will need to change your password when you register with AOL. Then you need to update your password in the settings of your email application."

 

I followed that instruction and Thunderbird failed to receive my Verzion email while it had no problem receiving my Hotmail.

I've been tring to call , all i get is your closed .I had to pay my bill over my smart phone this month why ? which incurred a late fee why ? because the site keeps telling me to log in when ever i try to pay it  on the verizon site it's been that way for 6 days now if you count tioday and I am log into the acount that controls my verzion or main acount and i am ware of the some thing about moving us to a new billing system but after 6 days and a uncalled for late fee and the fact i  paid it on time or by the grace time limit, sense i can't get thu to anyone for some strange reason by phone, im posting here but will try again on monday sense it seems the office is closed now on the week ends ? .

why i couldn't i get thu  a few days ago by phone no idea either it said you were closed then.

 

one last Question i keep asking and will keep asking till it's done or i die or a beter service comes  were i live other then verizon or comcast .

 

are you all going to let us do due date changes,

i get my check on  the third wedsday of each month which doesn't seem to mater to much to you all  and most of the time im late on paying it but that does mater that i'm late by your set due date, I can't change, it seems , i get the late fee taken off true which is annoying after a year or so of doing it each month when the fix is very simple change the due date and  charge me the diffence like you do if i make a change on my account you all sure get that done fast .so  becasue you won't change the Due date I'm late and i all ways pay it when i say I will, with billing arrangements and a full payment, so i'm not ever late.

 

 even comcast lets us do due date changes but there service is far worse then verizon has ever been till now .

 SO, anything I'm told at this point is meaning less, annoiyng  and a excuse 

 

 

I dont get it, out of all my bills i pay you all still refuse to allow due date changes after years not days not month but years and offer it to your wire less customer but not your fios customer's.

i asked why, an no one can give a truth full why or gave a reason that has nothing ti do with changing it  some in billing had no idea we could not and some told me tthey have no idea why ..

I have never had such a bad experience with ANY customer service EVER. I was required to submit a security deposit for their internet service which is expected so I complied. I recently moved and had to cancel my account because they do not provide service to my new area. When I first inquired about my security deposit they told me not to worry I would get it in a few weeks. A month goes by... Not only do I not have my security deposit refunded to me but I am told that they refunded it to me a month and a half before I ever closed the account. The bank account I used to make the initial deposit had since been closed so I explained this to customer service and again was told that they see the issue and I wil be receiving a check in 3-4 weeks. Another month goes by, no check.

 

Now whenever I call, I get bounced back and forth between 3 or 4 different departments who all say they do not handle this issue. Most of the time that I am transfered they do not tell me I am being transfered. I simply here the "hold" music and another voice answers to which I have to explain the whole long story over and over again. I have even been hung up on or "disconnected" at least 4 times I can remember and it always seems it happens whenever I feel I am getting somewhere. I have spoken to managers in the Customer Service department, the Finance department and the Sales and Services department and always get the run around of, "we don't hand this but [insert another department name here] does" and I get transfered without being able to get another word in edgewise. 

 

I have been on the phone with customer support, without any exageration, over 15 times for countless hours without having any clear response to my issue. I have even been told that they received confirmation from my bank that the funds were received, which is impossible because the account was completely closed long before the date that they said they submitted the refund. I work for a bank and I know that this is NOT how they operate. We have rules and regulations out the butt to prevent this from happening (it is the most regulated industry in this country and for good reason). I have tried explaining to multiple reps that they must have gotten a confirmation that their 3rd party provider received these funds but the bank has not. I only know this because I have contacted the bank I was banking with at the time and they told me this happens more than I would expect and Verizon probably received their confirmation from their 3rd party company, which they use, but certainly not the bank.

 

Whenever I bring this up to Verizon support (if you can call them that), they either deny it, I get transfered around for hours, or I get "disconnected". The way they treat their customers, especially ones that no longer have an open account, is attrocious. I highly recommend avoiding this service all together unless you enjoy hours of run around and be treated like a child.

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.

Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

Better to ignore. named would also be behaving as the DNS Proxy in the router. If you have SSH access, though, you should be able to suppress the warnings or correct the problem.

If your address is a new address, Verizon will probably need to add it to the database. Try posting in this forum for assistance: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/vzdirect

 

Try ordering phone service, even if you don't need it. No matter what, Verizon has to hook that up. They will deliver it over FiOS in FiOS areas. Copper is dead the moment the Fiber is lit up unless a special requirement is needed.

OpenVPN port forwarding

I have an OpenVpn virtual appliance running under Hyper visor on my home network.  I would like to use the instance from outside the home for security when using open wifi access points.  To do this I need to forward port 1194 to the device in order to get an encrypted session.

The device works fine using wifi connected to my home network but after much trying I have worked out that the Netgear wndr3700 that is my Fios gateway router will not forward port 1194 for some unknown reason.

I have to believe there are others on here that are using OpenVpn so am looking for information on what routers they are using that will forward port 1194 or generally if anybody can confirm a router that will forward the port.

I just upgraded today because the Verizon sales person said that my wireless range would improve by 3 times.

When the wireless techniciain come over to install it he cautioned me that most customers he had previously installed for had been having serious wireless issues. I disregarded his advice to my detriment.

The wifi range is less than my previous Verizon router that Ive had for close to 8 years. Dont know how a company like Verizon can get it so wrong. Does equipment like this not get pre-tested ? 

The range is more like 75% of my existing wireless router, forget about 3 times !

The battery is required for ONT to operate in case there is a power outage, as obviously, there are a lot of electrical components in the ont that require power to operate.

The posts here about it only be required for phone is totally wrong and shows their total misunderstanding of the issue.

 

The battery is required for ONT to operate in case power goes out. The logic is if you have Verizon Phone service and need to make a call in case of an outage, the ONT needs to have power, end of story.(obviously the phone would need power if it is of the wireless type, but old style phone should operate with just RJ11 alone)

 

The question of WHY doesnt Verizon provide an SIP gateway for anyone who purchases their FIOS phone is beyond me, as this would allow for using any SIP enabled client or any SIP enabled IP phone DIRECTLY OVER IP, from anywhere in the house (or world (if you VPN into your VZ network at home)). Instead Verizon requires you to plug in to the old style RJ 11 jack on the ONT.

 

Finally, i resolved the issue using the technique someone posted here already - I simply unplugged the battery from the ONT, let it sit for 5 minutes, then reconnected it and viola, the light is green and the battery seems good (i tested by unplugging power).

 

My statement still stands - Verizon needs to replace these batteries if they are offered as part of the service, or clearly state that customer is responsible for servicing the battery. Not because I care about $20 that it costs to replace it ($36 actually) but because Verizon is well known for nickel and diming their customers and it is just a matter of principle.

I'm having the same problem. Stuck at 90ms. With the quantum router. I can't find the bat table for the ip thebxbox is connecting to on the quantum router settings. Where would I go to find that?

Couple of comments:

1) How many customers have sip enabled phones? And backup power is what is offered with battery for phone use during a power outage. That's what people with pots service expect.

2) Don't think any there are any consumer services that offer sip. Verizon has to compete against most providers not niche ones?

3) I believe batteries are listed as customer supported. No different than tires, brakes, etc on a car that you lease. Battery is now an extra option using D cell batteries.

Last week we called customer service to question some charges on our bill before making a payment. After that discussion, the customer service agent made some credits to the account and then we discussed switching over to Digital Voice. After that happened - we were issued a new account number. Ever since we received a new account number last week, I have not been able to login to "My Verizon". When I do i always get the same message "we are unable to process your request at this time, please try again later, apologize for the inconvenience".... however, I can login to my Verizon email and see my email - which we don't utilize anyway - since we have other email anyway. 

 

last night I called Verizon to try to handle this - I was on the phone with customer service for over 3 1/2 hours! To the point where my cordless phone actually died. I was transferred from one department to the next. Billing department... Tech department....web services department... e services department (which is where I started)... and now I'm told after my very last transfer that's where I need to talk to again.... 3 1/2 hours!!!! If i had known last week Wednesday that I would be going thru all of this - I would never have switched my services over. I cannot login to view my account or my bill or even PAY my bill online anymore. As of now my bill is late and I refuse to pay a late fee since its Verizon's fault. 

 

I googled the issue - tried to explain my problem each time to the next department I was transferred to and yet they couldn't help me. It said I needed one account closed or merged - but for some reason - no one I talked to - in all those departments I was transferred to - in over 3 1/2 hours of talking - could help me or figure that out. I am getting really frustrated and very very angry. Not a very good service from Verizon ....
