Re: Another rate increase...

Unneeded indeed... I can't help but feel that Verizon is treating all FIOS services as a "bundle" of sorts, so everyone is sharing any rate increase to some extent no matter what. Therefore, I'm inevitably paying for stuff I'm not using, and I'm not even getting anything in return for service I am interested in. I was on minimum speed when I signed up and I'm still on minimum speed today, except I'm paying $30 more.

As internet service only customer that's the only way I can rationalize these rate increases.

@eljefe

So true. I've had FIOS since 2008, and every week I get 1-2 adds in the mail. I've been thinking about it the same way for years. If they stopped wasting money on those adds I'm not interested in, my bill could be $5-$10 less.

From DSL to FIOS, I've had Verizon internet service for over 11 years now, but this just doesn't work anymore. There was Comcast offer available until Dec. 21st for 25Mbps internet for $30/mo for 1yr w/o contract. Unfortunately, I missed that date, but if another offer like that comes my way, I'm definitely taking it. I know Comcast is even worse than Verizon, but enough is enough. I have to break this chain of yearly rate increases and if I must play temporary deal card back and forth, I can do it. How about offering some discounts for current customers, rather than pushing us toward exit, Verizon?

I'd definitely like to see Google jump in. We need some competition. But it will likely be many years before/if that happens...
