From the speedtest I did on my iPhone, I get about 34 down. Is that normal or not? Do I have to change any settings on my phone?

According to inSSIDer, my signal is 42 dBm. Is that good

With the router and laptop in separate rooms you are dealing with distance and obstructions.  Probably at least one wall, plus whatever else may be between them.   69/30 isn't a bad speed under those conditions.  You may get it a little better, but reaching the 75/35 will be difficult under those conditions.

Your inSSIDER signal could be better, but it isn't necessarily bad.  It depends on where you are taking it.  As a reference with my laptop next to the router I get about 30-33, in the living room it's in the 40s.

If your laptop is getting 69/30 and the iPhone only gets 34/?, the difference would be in the devices, not the router.  I'm not familiar with iPhones so I can't offer any advice there.

Regarding the antennas:  Since you have the latest model router, my guess is that you already have the 9dBi antenna.  I did some research a while back and found nothing that looked better than the antennas that came on my MI424WR Rev I.   Nothing wrong with looking though.
