How to browse the extender router setup web page?

The main router setup page is http://myfiosgateway.com/ but this doesn't work/show extender SSID. I have the same case of having two different ssid(one in main router and another in extender because of the main router got replacement)

Log into the main router and take note of the IP address of the extender. 192.168.1.xxx. Open a new tab in your browser and type that into the address bar. That will take you to the extender admin page.

Re: Which version of MoCA do I have?

That's odd.

For speeds above 100 mbps an ethernet connection is required between the ONT & the router, but the STB still uses coax no matter the speed. Why can't the STB be connected by ethernet instead of coax?

Internet Radio Buffering Issues

In the past few months I've been having issues with several internet radio stations buffering and/or dropping.   The problem occurs both on my Android and PC while I'm connected to WiFi,  as well as on a PC that is hard wired from the router, although more often on WiFi.   It occurs with Windows 10 and on Linux,  although much less often on Linux.  It occurs with every media player I've tried,  even when I increase the buffer size.   I listen to only two stations,  and both have the same issue, although one more than the other.   The only common denomiator is FIOS.

Verizon FIOS 2 yr Packages & Rates

I have been a customer for 16+ years. My current 2 yr agreement has expired and looking at other options. I have received 4 different quotes from Verizon FIOS customer service for the same breakout. I was sent a quote via email only to be told later that it was incorrect and should not have been offered. Note that adding even 1 new box will cause all prices of all equipment & services to go up (even if you don't touch your current equip. or svcs). What? You cannot add or change 1 item without impacting all others (only a supervisor knew this by the way). Also FIOS no longer provides promotions for Movie channels with their Triple play. You have to add everything in separately. Bottom line is they want you to lock in for 2 years and pay  MORE for the same equipment, the same DVR services but without Movie channels (I was getting both Showtime & HBO).  You should be ashamed Verizon FIOS!!

The ONT MoCA port is version 1.1 so it doesn’t do the speeds over 100 mbps consistently. Thats just the limitation of the WAN connection over coax.

Theoretically they could be fed by ethernet but the STBs have QAM tuners not IP so they need coax.

Also the majority of houses are not wired with ethernet. They are with coax. Plus routers have only have 4 LAN ports so then between customer hardwired devices then your adding switches into the mix. It’s just not practical.

Well, I learned something !

Well, I hope that the powers-that-be at Verizon will come out with state-of-the-art STBs that support ethernet & wifi.

I'm researching cutting the cord & I can't help but wonder if my ONT is up to the task of streaming. I know that the streaming devices support wifi.

I'm sure eventually they will. But as far as using coax and MoCA I think that is here to stay. Verizon is not the only provider that uses MoCA. Cable, DirecTV, and Dish Network all use MoCA with their STBs. Even the newer TiVos uses it.

The ONT you have is fully up to the task. It supports gigabit speeds. If you have cutting the cord in mind. 25 mbps is all that is needed for one 4k stream. These gigabit speeds that are offered are way overboard.

Possibly. The GC110P can be configured with VLAN 2 and VLAN3 but I'm not sure if you can also provide DHCP or, as previously stated, need a router to do so. Some managed switches provide this capability.

Unfortunately,  this only allows you to toggle the WMM and WMM Power Save features  No settings. Might be a good idea to turn off power save. I've seen some posts that suggest possible dropped connections because of this. It seems to manage polling from your device to save battery on a mobile device.

In an ideal world, we would be able to direct our Netflix content to our device at max speed/priority and let our kids YouTube connection suffer!  But no, that's not what WMM (wifi multimedia manager) does.

I called in today to get our faulty DVR replaced and the technician (Avery in VA) did a great job working with the back-end network support team to fix the internet speed issue.  It took a bit of time, testing, and two reboots of the ONT, but in the end I'm getting about 57/64 speeds.  Very pleased.

I think I found it.

When I go to the website and access My Verizon and then click on My Plan an ad for upgrading my service loads at the top of the page underneath information about my current plan. At the bottom of the ad is a bar that shows my average GB usage over the last 30 days.

Good luck!

Anyone able to redeem $200 Google smart device promo credit from Fios sign up?

$

Hi everyone,

So when I signed up for Fios triple play around mid August, I saw this promotion going on - www.verizon.com/google.  It says that you will get $200 credit to use towards specific Google smart devices as long as you sign up and stay as Fios customer for longer than 30 days.

Around mid September I did receive an email saying that my credit is ready.  There is no promo code, but only a link, with a disclaimer saying that I don't need a code but just have to purchase the smart devices as usual and the credit will be applied.  So I did that, using the link.  My Verizon homepage also shows a banner and a message saying the same, showing the same link.  I go to the link and try to buy Google smart devices.  None of the products seems to trigger the promo code properly.  In fact, it gives me an error message and prevents ever purchasing anything - I can't even use my own money to advance an order.  The error message reads: "Sorry, we aren’t able to place this order until your Verizon service is fully provisioned. Please try again later or contact 1-800-VERIZON for assistance. [3200061]"

No one seems to have an answer to this error.  I called Fios, Rewards+, and Verizon Wireless (I know they are not related to Fios but somehow I got automatically rerouted to them).  I chatted on Fios website using both manual chat option and Fios assistant chat option.  They have no idea what's going on.  No one seems to be responsible and they all say I should speak to so and so, but it always goes nowhere.  I was once told to wait for a few days since there seems to be a system glitch temporarily, but that was about 20 days ago.

Anyone have any ideas?  Experience?  Was anyone able to use the $200 credit?  Or failed?  This credit has an expiry date so time is ticking...  Let me know, thank you in advance!

Regards,

Disappointed Customer

FiOS G-1100 Simple port forwarding rule does not work

Some things never change...

I can create a simple port forward that for example maps external port 8080 to an internal port 8080 (8080 > 8080) and it works fine.

But if I create a port forwarding rule on the advanced tab to map a specific external port to a different internal port, for example 8080 > 3389, the rule is created and I can assign it to a server under port forwarding, buit it does NOT work. I'm a 20 year network professional so I assure you it's not user error. What is happening here? Is this Verizon's way of forcing me to pay to upgrade to a better router?

#2 At Firewall -> Static NAT you do not have anything enabled?

#5 Show a screen shot of what you see at Firewall -> Port Forwarding

*see pictures below

#6 While we know you have FIOS Internet, do you also have FIOS TV?

*yes i do

#7 While we know what NAT router that you are currently using,
do you have any spare NAT routers?

*no spare routers - i didn't think i could have more than one verizon router

#8 If not, do you have any spare computers that still works that has a
least two NICs (note: at one of the NICs must be a wired NIC) ?

*no spare computers

Verizon doesn’t have a better router. You have their best on G1100

if you switch to a better router line a Asus, Netgear or TP-link they do not offer support.

i recommend you get rid of the Quantum if you have internet only. If you have tv you would still need it or adapters to see the vod and guide.

Are you running FiOS in a business or is this your home? As the previous poster said this Verizon most up to date router.

If your connection from the Verizon ONT is on ethernet you can use your own router. Which again  I would agree with previous poster you should use your own.
