We signed up for Verizon. My husband is currently deployed and I was hoping to utilize the nest credit to get welcome home gifts for him. When I try to get the credit, they attempt to charge full price or say the link isn't working. The $150 gift card isn't working either. Go figure. This is highly unethical.
Nest Credit a Scam to get new subscribers???

Re: The Worst!!!
1-800-VERIZON that is the number to call.
evidently there is already a hook up in your residence or you would not be able to do a self install. You save $99 by just hooking a ethernet cable that is or should be already there to the WAN port of your router.
if you follow the simple directions it tells you after you power on the router and it’s ethernet is connected to go to the activation web portal and you will be up and running.
or call the number and have them send a person out to do it for you.
Download speed not changed after switch from 25/25 to 50/50 service
Hi, I recently upgraded our service from 25/25Mbps to 50/50Mbps. After the change I noticed that speed tests were not showing the promised speed levels, and I had a chat session with an online agent that led to them trying to get me to upgrade to Quantum service hardware. I have a Verizion Advanced Wi-Fi router that has been working fine. I monitor my connection in the FCC's SamKnows program, which monitors my connection statistics. It shows that after the upgrade, my upload speed doubled as expected (from ~30Mbps to ~64Mbps), but my download speed has not (still averaging around 30Mbps). (Screenshot attached) . How can I convince Verizon to actually look into and fix this?
Re: Crawling download speeds / uploads at rated or above?
Same problem. Measured directly via wired Ethernet at the router: download about 12 Mbps, upload 25 Mbps. The usual reboot sequence does not make a difference.
Re: Crawling download speeds / uploads at rated or above?
Both of you can do the following.
1- first turn off your routers and count to 30 plug back in and then test again. Now if this does not help you are going to have to do.
2- hit the reset button on the router and start off from fresh. You will have to set the router up again, which depending on your devices may take some time. It resets router back to day one so the original login and password will apply.
3- turn off every device you have connected to your network and after you do either of the steps 1-2 above wait and tests again after everything is back online.
4- which I would actually do first is call 1-800-VERIZON and ask for tech support, ask them to test the speeds from their service up to your ONT and router. If the speed is there as provisioned then you have narrowed it down to your equipment.
if it’s your computers, tablets, desktops it could be a setting on these devices.
the speed of what you are speaking of should even work at www.speedtest.net by Ookla either via ethernet or WiFi although Verizon Fios only accepts their own speed test site. Google it.
Re: Crawling download speeds / uploads at rated or above?
I
I've had a similar experience recently after upgrading from 25/25 to 50/50 service (and wrote a separate post about it). Verizon's speed test, Ookla's, and Netflix's are all consistent, and my SamKnows hardware monitors my connection over time. I'm testing with my FIOS Advanced Wi-Fi router attached to no other wired devices over its WLAN.
Re: FIOS WAN Disconnect w/new router
Well, it turns out that two brand new ASUS routers, the RT86U and the GT-AC5300 must have had a firmware bug or a hardware flaw. I ordered a 3rd and 4th router, the RT68U refurb and the Nighthawk XR500, and both worked flawlessly. All routers had the latest firmware, and I even did a reset of them.
I am returning the other two. Maybe its a firmware flaw, don't know, but after spending hours at this, I am pretty unhappy with their latest routers.
Re: Crawling download speeds / uploads at rated or above?
Did you call and ask tech support to test your provisioned speeds?
i would attempt that as a first step.
at 50/50 or 75/75 your speeds should be slightly over those listed speeds.
not below. Barring it being ok from their location to your ONT or router. It then is devices connected to the router that is the culprit to look into.
Re: FIOS WAN Disconnect w/new router
You mean the non Verizon routers? Verizon gives no guarantees on any non branded routers they provide.
hopefully you wrote Asus and the other router maker and told them of their issues?
glad it finally all worked out for you.

Re: FIOS WAN Disconnect w/new router
I did submit logs of the problem. They indicated that I should RMA it. What are the odds of two routers, different models, same problem. Maybe they shared some firmware code base, or hardware. If that was the case, there should be a ton of people having the problem. Who knows. During troubleshooting, I even switched ethernet cables, and moved the router right next to the ONT. No difference.
At the end of the day, my refurb worked, which was the same model as my former bricked router, and the Netgear worked as well out of the box.
Re: FIOS WAN Disconnect w/new router
Firmware and firmware updates are tricky. Many times they flash properly and all runs as it should. It is not uncommon to have more than one router having to be replaced.
its like the old updates to cell phones. If you remember many of them were bricked by the code when updated.
i always recommend using routers outside of verizons branded ones.
Re: When terminating internet only service, no one informed me the charges aren't prorated
That's interesting. I had seen some replies from Verizon so I thought this was the proper place to raise a complaint. My point is I wasn't told when I cancelled, and when I asked about a refund was told it would take 2 billing cycles. I'll take this up directly with verizon. Thank you for your time.
$150 VISA REWARDS CARD REGISTRATION ISSUE
Hi There,
My name is Ibrahim and I'm a new Fios customer. I have a $150 rewards card as a part of my offer but I'm having an issue registering.
When I click 'Register Now' to sign up for my prepaid Verizon reward, it redirects me to Verizon VTP page and it does nothing. It just says "Retrieving Customer Data" and does nothing. What should I do?
Thank you.
Best,
Ibrahim

Re: 2.4ghz not working 9-28-18
The solution was to unplug the router and wait a few minutes then plug it back in and wait for it to boot up
Packet Loss
I constantly get message in game clients that i am experiencing packet loss and am experiencing in-game effects that i suspect are related. I downloaded WinMTR as a recommended tool to get some information and get the following output.

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider
Things to note that i see are 94% packet loss to verizon.com.customer.alter.net and 18% packet loss to 4.69.216.226
Does this information point to an issue and should i contact verizon support on the phone to help investigate?
